Embryo transfer
Embryo transfer is usually performed 3 to 5 days after egg retrieval and is the final and most important stage of the IVF process.
It is a short, simple and painless procedure that does not require anesthesia.
During the procedure, the embryos are placed in the uterus using a thin, flexible catheter, which is gently passed through the cervix.
The transfer is done under ultrasound guidance, so that the doctor can ensure that the embryos are placed precisely in the part of the endometrial cavity that favors the best chance of implantation.
After embryo transfer, the woman can return to her daily activities, following the instructions of the treating physician.
Pregnancy confirmation test
Approximately 14 days after egg retrieval, a blood test is performed to measure the levels of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG).
The result of this test will confirm whether pregnancy has been achieved.
